While walking to work, airman Joseph F. Raley observed a spherical object from a distance away of 1 mile.

The object was at an estimated altitude of 5,000'.

It moved several hundred mph faster than any known aircraft.

No sound was heard, and was first seen moving North to South, until it crossed the air base where it stopped and hovered for approximately 2 seconds, then took off to the West.
