Huge Orange Ball Floating Over Russellville
Our family had come from Michigan to vacation with grandparents in Russellville AR one summer in the late 1950s. One early evening about dusk we were all interrupted from the supper table by a neighbor girl knocking on everyone's doors excitedly yelling to come and see Mars in the sky.Neighbors up and down the street witnessed a huge orange glowing ball roll across the sky slowly within the space of about 10 minutes. It seemed to be rolling like a ball and I recall it seemed to have darkish marks or a swirling pattern on it as it rolled. It made no sound.
The kids were all running down the street trying to keep it in sight. It seemed to be at about the altitude of a small airplane.
I am 64 years old and I have never forgotten it.
